NLGA Projects NLGA engages in a myriad of bi-partisan projects to benefit the constituents of the nation and advance the office of lieutenant governor and the mission of NLGA. Projects Ongoing projects include "Your Heart is in Your Hands" and "Ending Cervical Cancer in our Lifetime" (click above buttons for details). "Ending Cervical Cancer in Our Lifetime" won an American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) national award as one of the six best programs in the nation in 2009. "Your Heart is in Your Hands" has been recognized by the American College of Cardiology. Project HomeSafe (a gun-lock distribution program) and Winning with Asthma are recently completed. Research The "About the Office of Lieutenant Governor" page contains a collection of information, writings, and opinions on the office. Research completed in 2006 shows that for the past 100 years, an average of one in every four governors first served as lieutenant governor or first in line of succession. A second study showed no other city, state or Congressional office is more successful than the office of lieutenant governor as a springboard to governor.
