• Gain Hope
Clinical trials offer no guarantees, but when standard treatments fail, or none exist, clinical research trials can sometimes offer hope.
• Obtain Relief
Sometimes, participants in a clinical trial receive experimental treatments that have a beneficial effect on diseases or disorders from which they are suffering.
• Help Friends and Family
A clinical trial may not only benefit the patient, but may also benefit future patients by helping further medical innovations positively impacting all people – possibly your family, friends, and future generations.
• Make Lives Better
You may benefit the wider community by aiding the development of better medical treatments, faster. Under-enrollment in trials is one of the greatest challenges clinical researchers face. This slows research progress and contributes to higher health costs.
Clinical research has led to important medical discoveries such as vaccines; new treatments for disease such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease; better ways to exercise; improved medical procedures and treatments; the development of MRIs, CT Scans, and X-ray machines; and more. In some clinical trials, you may also be paid for your time and any inconvenience.
• Minority participants are especially needed
Minority communities – including females, African Americans, Hispanics, and Asian Americans -are now underrepresented in the clinical trials. African Americans are 12% of the U.S. population but make up only 5% of clinical trial participants, and Hispanics are 16% of the U.S. population, but only 1% of clinical trial participants. Clinical trials are to test how proposed medical treatments will affect the general population, so the trial participants need to reflect the general population.
The innovation discovered through clinical trials is key to address current and future health care challenges. You can be the Cure. You can volunteer now by clicking enroll now! or take the next step in things to consider.
